Well, what a busy three weeks it has been for our Upper-Intermediate students!
As part of our Upper-Intermediate General English course here at Inforum, we incorporate Business English into the curriculum to expand our students’ skills and opportunities. At the end of their 12-week course, the students use this knowledge to conduct a S.W.O.T. analysis on a local business, and to deliver a presentation.
Inforum’s Upper Intermediate students were fortunate enough to visit the Sheraton Mirage. On arrival, Danelle Hart, the trainee Executive Manager, and Kerri Giles, the Sales and Marketing Manager, gave an informative and interesting presentation, which also served as an excellent example for the students to follow. We then had the opportunity to ask questions for our research, such as:
What is the main obstacle facing your business right now?
How do you ensure that your guests come back?
How do you develop staff skills and foster new leaders?
After this, we were shown around the hotel grounds, including the kitchens and bedrooms, giving us further opportunity to learn more about the business, and its daily operations.
Of course, an accurate analysis of the business couldn’t be conducted without sampling the menu, so our final stop was for High Tea in the Sheraton Pearls Bar, which we enjoyed immensely!
Then, it was time to get down to the real work! The students started planning their presentations in groups, and learning presentation skills such as how body language, gestures, and the use of voice can benefit their presentation delivery.
Last Thursday was finally Presentation Day! All of our students were fantastic, and gave outstanding, well-planned presentations.
Thank you to Victor and the team at Pearls Bar for the wonderful High Tea. It was delicious!
Special thanks also to Danelle and Kerri, for looking after the students so well, and for answering all of their questions so thoroughly.
And finally, congratulations to the fabulous and very hard-working Upper-Intermediate students. We are very proud of you!
