The thing that is most exciting about Upper Intermediate is the fact that we get to talk about such interesting topics! And this week was no exception.
We began the week by talking about cars. We looked at the difference between sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs and the all Australian ute. We also learnt vocabulary related to parts of a car, which can be extremely useful if we are ever to rent or buy a car here in Australia! We discussed all of the problems that can occur with vehicles and shared our own experiences of problematic cars and journeys.
Finally, we discovered new ways to add extra emphasis, especially when talking about our feelings or opinions by using structures such as “It’s really embarrassing when I lock the keys in the car”, “What annoys me the most is the amount of time I spend in traffic” or “What I love most about English classes is learning how to express myself!”
