Globalization. For or against? Good or bad? This week in FCE, we looked at cultures around the world and how travel is making our world a smaller and smaller place. Some people see this as a good thing and others don’t. Unfortunately, it’s one of those tricky things that there’s no clear answer to.

Also, we used our own travel experiences to tell an engaging story both in spoken and written speech. To do this, we needed all the past tenses and a lot of descriptive language. You don’t need all this to tell a story but you do need it to tell a good one. Show, don’t tell.

With topics like these, you really need to stretch your vocabulary and grammar to express yourself in a clear and interesting way. It’s one thing to use your English but it’s another to make others actually want to listen to you.
